The upgrade is designed to reduce wait times and enhance convenience—particularly for business travellers—by allowing passengers to leave liquids and electronic devices inside their hand luggage during security checks. Despite the technology upgrade, Gatwick Airport will continue to enforce the 100ml liquid limit. All liquids must still be placed in clear plastic bags, in accordance with current UK aviation regulations. This policy remains in place as not all UK airports have implemented CT scanner technology consistently, and Gatwick is aligning with guidance from the Department for Transport. **Cyrus Dana**, Head of Security at Gatwick, commented: *"More than 95% of passengers already pass through security at London Gatwick in under five minutes. This is a positive change, with the scanners allowing our passengers to travel through the airport with more ease."* He added: *"As we continue to grow, our top priority remains the safety of our passengers and the security of the airport.
