# UK Introduces New Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) Requirement 

The UK government has introduced a new **Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA)** requirement for travellers who previously did not need a visa to enter the country.

The new regulation applies to visitors from 85 countries, including the United States, Canada, France and many others.

**What this means for travellers:**

- If you are travelling to the UK without a visa, you must obtain an approved [ETA](https://www.gov.uk/eta)before departure.
- Airlines are required to verify your ETA status prior to boarding.
- Travellers without an approved ETA will not be permitted to travel.

The new system has been introduced to strengthen border security while streamlining the arrival process, creating a smoother and more efficient experience for international visitors.
