Important Update: Ryanair are going fully mobile as of 12 November

Important Update: Digital Boarding Passes Launch on 12 November

Ryanair has announced that from 12 November 2025, it will move to 100 per cent Digital Boarding Passes. From this date, all passengers who check in online will receive their boarding pass directly in the Ryanair app. Paper boarding passes will no longer be issued.

Check-in can still be completed either on Ryanair.com or via the Ryanair mobile app.

Why Is Ryanair Making This Change?

Ryanair states that the move to digital-only boarding passes will:

  • Help reduce airport operating costs, supporting lower fares

  • Provide live flight updates and improve the day-of-travel experience

  • Speed up rebooking during schedule disruptions

  • Remove an estimated 300 tonnes of paper each year, contributing to more sustainable travel

What Travellers Need To Do

  • Check in online before arriving at the airport

  • Once check-in is complete, the digital boarding pass will automatically appear in the Ryanair app

  • Present the digital pass at airport security and again at the boarding gate

This update is designed to make travel faster and more efficient, with no printing required.

A Note on Airport Check-In Fees

Ryanair will continue to send email reminders 48 and 24 hours before departure prompting passengers to check in online. Travellers who arrive at the airport without checking in online will still be required to pay the standard airport check-in fee.
